Story Behind the Painting

Amazonian Flame was inspired by one of the tropical plants that seemed to be everywhere while growing up in Venezuela. I remember seeing its vibrant leaves in gardens, front yards and parks long before I ever knew what it was called.

Living abroad has made me realize how deeply those everyday landscapes became part of who I am. The plants I once passed without thinking now feel like small reminders of home.

Rather than painting this tropical foliage realistically I wanted to capture the feeling it leaves with me. Through bold colors expressive brushstrokes and layered textures I reinterpret these familiar forms through my own experience as a Venezuelan living abroad.

This painting is a celebration of the tropical beauty that surrounded so many of us growing up and a reminder that the places we call home often stay with us in the smallest details.
