Story Behind the Painting

Not Your Grandma’s Flowers was created as a reminder that floral art doesn’t have to look the way people expect it to.

I’ve always loved flowers but I’ve never been interested in painting them traditionally. I wanted to create an arrangement that felt playful bold and full of personality using unexpected colors and expressive forms that reflect my own artistic voice.

The title is a nod to that idea. These aren’t quiet traditional florals. They’re flowers with attitude that celebrate color creativity and individuality.

This painting reflects the direction my work continues to evolve toward: familiar subjects reimagined through my own perspective.
